This is my entry for Short Challenge #16. The concept behind this piece is that the Spirits of the Seasons guard a sacred flame and take turns keeping vigil over it. The flame is the Breath of Life, a mysterious energy that keeps the Earth turning and able to sustain life. If the flame were ever to go out, all life on Earth would be extinguished with it. So, the Seasons, four powerful demigods, keep the flame burning. Whenever each Season has possession of the flame, the Earth reflects which Season is acting as Guardian of the Eternal Flame.
